Planing of solar PV system. Support for Rooftop PV System Installation of Solar Power Plant Complete Solution Off-grid Solar Systems Solar off-grid systems are installed on stand alone basis without any support from utility grid. They use batteries as storage devices of electricity that gets charged during the day and meets electricity needs during night. This way these systems ensure a 24 hour power supply. Hybrid Systems Solar hybrid systems couple the Solar PV modules with other power producing sources in order to increase the total output and reduce the cost involve and offer more reliable solutions. The most common of these are solar and diesel hybrid & solar and wind hybrid systems. Grid-connected Rooftop Systems Grid connected Rooftop Solar power plants within the capacity range of 1 to 500 kilowatts are simple to i

Project planning Activities at the project planning phase comprise site selection, technical and financial feasibility studies, engineering design and project development. The first two activities involve measuring the solar resource potential and estimating the environmental and social impacts of developing a solar plant on an identified site. Engineering design involves identifying the technical aspects of the mechanical and electrical systems, the civil engineering work and infrastructure, the construction plan and the operations and maintenance (O&M) model. Project development consists of administrative tasks such as obtaining land rights, permits, licenses and approvals from different authorities; managing regulatory issues; negotiating and securing financing; negotiating and signing insurance contracts; contracting an engineering company; negotiating the rent or purchase of the land; and managing the procurement processes. EXAMPLE: Planning a 50 MW solar PV plant re

PV Solar System Installer training programme - March 2015 at IST The Indian solar energy sector has been growing rapidly, in the past few years, majorly due to Government’s initiatives such as tax exemptions and subsidies. Due to technical potential of 5,000 trillion kWh per year and minimum operating cost, Solar Power is considered the best suited energy source for India. Much of the country does not have an electrical grid, so solar power will indeed be a boon for water pumping, to begin replacing India's four to five million diesel powered water pumps, each consuming about 3.5 kilowatt of off-grid lighting. Solar energy technology consists of solar thermal technologies, which utilize sun’s energy and solar photovoltaic technology, which convert solar energy directly into electricity. India has been ranked 7th worldwide for solar photovoltaic (PV) cell production and secure 9th rank in solar thermal power generation. This capacity is growing rapidly due to the e

Institute of Solar Technology has been established by "Global Advanced Training & Educational Trust". IST is an academic and research-oriented self project that has worked in partnership with companies, women's organizations, community development associations and sociological research institutes. Join with us and build Sustainable Community. NGOs have shown leadership in promoting sustainable community development. Due to their particular ideology and nature, NGOs are good at reaching out to the poor and remote communities and mobilizing these populations. They can also empower these populations to regain control of their lives and can work with and strengthen local organizations. In addition, such NGOs can carry out projects more efficiently and at lower costs than government agencies and, most importantly, promote sustainable development. The five dimensions of sustainable community development are as follows: Increasing local economic diversity Self
India Sets Year-on-Year Targets to Reach Ambitious 2022 Solar Goal In 2014, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a goal to increase solar power capacity to 100 Giga watts (GW) by 2022 —five times higher than the previous target. The 2022 target is extremely ambitious (the world’s total installed solar power capacity was 181 GW in 2014 ) and would make India a global leader in renewable energy. Moreover, Piyush Goyal, India’s Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy, recently said that India aims to achieve its 100 GW solar target as early as the end of 2017. India’s total installed solar power capacity stands at 5.8 GW , so the country will need to significantly ramp up the pace of solar capacity additions, from an average 4 GW per year to 15+ GW per year to meet the 2022 target. Critics have been skeptical, citing hurdles like poor transmission infrastructure and lack of access to finance . Yet recent signs show t
Booming Solar Energy Market in INDIA IST E-Magazine | December, 2016 Estimates for total number of farmers in India, for 2011, accordingly range from 95.8 million (8%) to 263 million (22%) to 450 million (38%), out of a total population of over 1.2 billion. Others estimate the total number of farmers in India to be about 600 million (50% of total population). India should stop doing all other solar and just focus on giving farmers a solution for their needs. Solar power technology would be a reasonable choice for agricultural tools. Solar Photovoltaic cells (SPV) directly convert the light energy from the sun into electricity. Concentrated solar power (CSP) systems use an indirect method for the conversion process. Solar farming uses power generated from solar energy to operate agricultural or farming tools. It is simple, cost effective, reliable and long lasting. Most common agricultural tools such as tractors, watering
