 The components of PV solar power plants are: PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgears and AC and DC cables. 



SOLAR PV MODULES

There are different types of solar cells, , the two major families of solar cells dominating the market are going to be explained in more detail in this section: silicon crystalline structure and thinfilm technology. 

MOUNTING STRUCTURES

Mounting structures are used to fix the PV modules to the ground and they determine the tilt angle and the orientation of the modules. A classification of the mounting structures can be Pole mounts,   Foundation mounts, Ballasted footing mounts etc. 

SOLAR INVERTERS

PV modules generates power at DC current, Solar inverter convert DC to AC current. 

TRANSFORMERS

A transformer is an electric device which transfer electric power applied in a primary winding to a secondary winding by electromagnetic induction. The transfer of power is done at the same frequency, but with different voltage and current.

The most commonly used distribution transformers in PV power plants are pad-mounted type, Selection criteria for transformers include technical and economic factors - efficiency, guarantee, vector group, system voltage, power rating, site conditions, sound power, voltage control capability and duty cycle among other factors. 

SWITCHGEAR

The switchgear is the set of switches, fuses or circuit breakers used to control, protect and isolate the electrical equipment included in the system. 

DC AND AC CABLES

DC cables connect the PV modules between them and with the inverters while AC cables connect the rest of the electrical equipment inside the PV plant,

India Sets Year-on-Year Targets to Reach Ambitious 2022 Solar Goal In 2014, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a goal to  increase solar power      capacity to 100 Giga watts (GW) by 2022 —five times higher than the previous target. The 2022 target is extremely ambitious (the world’s total        installed solar power capacity was  181 GW in 2014 ) and would make India a global leader in renewable energy.
