Grid-Tie Solar Power Systems  Off-Grid Solar Power Systems  Solar Power Plants  Building Integrated Photo Voltaic Grid-Tie Solar Power Systems Definition: Grid-Tie Solar Photo-Voltaic (SPV) systems are SPV systems which can be connected to the existing Electricity Grid (EG) and Diesel Generators (DG) without the need of energy storage units (battery banks). During the sunlight hours, the generated solar power is utilized to operate the loads. When sufficient solar power is not available (overload situations and during no sunlight), the system draws the required power from the existing EG. Advantages: These SPV systems help reduce the power drawn from the existing EG and DG; therefore savings increase with every power price hike! Lower in cost with better return (ROI) period These SPV systems are capable of transferring the excess solar electricity generated into the existing Government EGs These SPV systems are maintenance free with zero r...

MANPOWER REQUIREMENTS FOR SOLAR PV DEVELOPMENT

Image
Project planning Activities at the project planning phase comprise site selection, technical and financial feasibility studies, engineering design and project development. The first two activities involve measuring the solar resource potential and estimating the environmental and social impacts of developing a solar plant on an identified site. Engineering design involves identifying the technical aspects of the mechanical and electrical systems, the civil engineering work and infrastructure, the construction plan and the operations and maintenance (O&M) model. Project development consists of administrative tasks such as obtaining land rights, permits, licenses and approvals from different authorities; managing regulatory issues; negotiating and securing financing; negotiating and signing insurance contracts; contracting an engineering company; negotiating the rent or purchase of the land; and managing the procurement processes. EXAMPLE: Planning a 50 MW solar PV plant re...

IST-Magazine SOLAR PV SECTOR JOB OPPERTUNITIES

Image
Booming Solar Energy Market in INDIA IST E-Magazine  | December, 2016   SOLAR PV SECTOR JOB OPPORTUNITIES A multitude of skilled workers across the solar project value chain are needed to achieve India’s targeted 100 GW of solar by 2022. New CEEW and NRDC analysis of the jobs created in the solar PV sector along with the related skills required in every phase of a solar project, estimates that India would need nearly 210,800 skilled plant design and site engineers and approximately 624,600 semi and low skilled Technicians for construction, most of whom would be needed to achieve the targeted 40 GW rooftop solar capacity addition. As many as 81,000 highly skilled workers would be needed by 2022 to carry out annual and ongoing performance data monitoring of solar projects totalling 100 GW. An additional 182,400 workers would be needed by 2022 to carry out low-skill operation and maintenance functions for the numerous solar rooftop and utility scale projects. ...

Get A Job In Solar Energy

Image
India needs to shift to non-polluting sources of energy. Do Your Research It’s an exciting time to break into the solar industry, but without the proper preparation, you might miss out on some key opportunities. Certain job fields are more abundant in specific areas, and some individuals qualify for subsidized training, so be sure to examine the offerings that are out there before deciding on a path. The solar industry employs more than just installers.  Opportunities also abound in project development, sales and distribution, manufacturing, and other job functions. Consider your background and your strengths to decide which area of the field is right for you. Some states are more "solar friendly" than others. Government forced into utility prices, interconnection policies and state metering policies. As there is a range of job functions supporting the solar energy industry, so is there a variety of training options. Be sure to thoroughly review the diff...

How to Start Solar Energy Business

Image
You can become one of the big entrepreneurs in this business that requires no financial investment. Investing your talent and passion in the solar energy business will make you a successful entrepreneur. Starting your own solar energy business can become big even if you are also one of the consumers of these products. It starts with renting the solar energy system for your home. In order to give you the step by step method then keep on reading. It starts with being a solar energy consultant where you have to educate these people on how they can use the solar energy system and save a lot of energy and even make business out of it with no investments at all. All they have to do is to learn and use the solar energy by renting it All you have to do is to complete the necessary training and passing them means you are now eligible to manage your own solar energy business. With this small business opportunity, you will have to do the second step which is training for the detail...

The nation is undergoing solar energy revolution

The nation is undergoing solar energy revolution. Farukh Khan, student of Institute of Solar Technology installing small solar lighting system at his village, Alwar District, Rajasthan. The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is working hard to earn the tag of ‘solar city’ for the New Delhi area of the national capital as it has framed a detailed plan for the rooftop solar energy generation. The chairman of NDMC Jalaj Shrivastava has said that they have identified 40 buildings in the area, which fall under their jurisdiction for the installation of rooftop solar panels. The buildings on which the roof top panels will be set up include NDMC schools, hospitals, offices, sub-stations, inquiry offices etc. An NDMC official said that they choose their own buildings for the pilot project as we did not require a ‘no objection certificate’ from any agency. PV Panel recycling technologies

Image
Solar power is booming, with millions of metric tons of solar panels being produced each year. A panel has a projected lifespan of about 25 years, which means that today’s new solar farms will go out of service in the late 2040s. Most of the weight in a solar panel, about 75 percent, is glass, aluminum, with 10 percent; wiring in a junction box, at 5 percent; and silicon, with just 3.5 percent. Dedicated recyclers are needed, the authors write, to do a more thorough job of recycling all the components of a panel—including the crystalline silicon in the photovoltaic cells themselves. Silicon wafers account for about half the cost of a panel, as well as over half the energy and carbon footprint of manufacturing a panel. But silicon isn't currently being targeted for recycling much because the recovered silicon isn't pure enough to go straight back to a wafer manufacturer. Studies show that the impurity levels are an important issue during the recycling processes.  Th...

Solar Technology   Standard Test Conditions (STC) are the laboratory conditions under which all PV modules are tested. It can be said that STC is a benchmark for comparing different types of PV modules, even if they are not from the same provider.  STC means : An irradiance of 1000 watts per square meter, which equivalent of peak sunshine on a surface directly facing the sun in a day without clouds. Temperature of the cell – 25°C. The temperature of the solar cell itself, not the temperature of the surrounding. Mass of the air – 1.5. Nominal Operating Cell Temperature   (NOCT),  the real site conditions under which a PV module will operate.  The irradiance is 800 watts per square meter the temperature considered is 45 (+/- 3) °C. The light spectrum is the same as for STC. Why people say – IST Business Boosting Course ? We cover business opportunities in Residential, Public Sector, Commercial and Industry, how you will prepare your technical team to fulfil...
